Crown Records Management took delivery of its first Smith electric vehicle in June 2008.

Crown RMS, UK, began investigating the use of electric vehicles a few years ago and tested various models. They found a practical solution in the Smith Edison panel van.

The Smith Edison used by Crown Records Management is based on the standard Ford transit chassis, but has been adapted mechanically to use battery power only.

The vehicle’s range is 80 to 100 miles (128-160km) between charges and its motor has only four moving parts which makes it easier to maintain, highly reliable and ideally suited for low mileage, inner city operations.
